Sometimes a pineapple is just a pineapple. But other times, it may be an indication of someone’s sexual proclivities.

It turns out that many people in the swinger community have adopted a pineapple – and more specifically an upside-down pineapple – as a kind of secret code to show their interests.

(A swinger is someone who participates in consensual non-monogamous relationships, where they and their partners agree to engage in sexual or romantic activities with other people outside of their primary relationship. Swinging is based on the principles of open communication, trust, and mutual consent.)

The connection between the upside-down pineapple and swinging is primarily seen in certain parts of the United States and Europe. However, it’s essential to understand that these symbols can vary and may not be universally recognized.

In this context, some swingers might use the pineapple symbol to identify themselves or signal their interests to others within the swinger community. If you see someone wearing an upside-down pineapple badge or pin, it means that they’re actively looking for a partner swap. An upside-down pineapple on someone’s front porch can be seen as an invitation to join a swinger party.

It’s important to recognize that the use of symbols like the pineapple within the swinger community may not be well-known or understood outside of those circles. Additionally, like any symbol, its meaning can evolve or change over time and may not be static.
